RETIREMENT OF CHIC’S RIDE
November 3, 2008 - September 23, 2018

Turning Tragedy into Action

On October 6, 2007, a beautiful Columbus Day weekend, our family was changed forever. That was the day of the tragic loss of my husband and father of my children, Brian “Chic” Ceccarini. He was killed in a motorcycle accident as he was enjoying a leisurely ride with his brother through the Berkshire Mountains. This unexpected loss hit us very hard and still affects us very much to this day. However his strength, inspiration and love still lives on in us.

As the one year anniversary of Brian’s accident was approaching, our family decided we wanted to honor his memory with a memorial motorcycle ride. After some research, we came across the Massachusetts Motorcyclists’ Survivors Fund and with the help of Paul Cote were introduced to the Blackstone Valley Motorcyclists’ Survivors Fund. When we reached out for help in planning a ride, we were met with open arms from complete strangers, riders, and other widows. It was on that cold November morning in 2008 that my family found the angels we needed to help carry us through this tragedy and begin to heal.

It was after this that I joined the fund as treasurer, eventually became President and helped to expand the group to include all 60 cities and towns in Worcester County. Since that time we have planned, organized and hosted 10 memorial fundraising rides in honor of my late husband. We are so grateful for all of the people who helped to make these rides such a success and in turn allowed us to continue helping other riders and their families.

Sadly, our family along with the board members of the WCMSF have decided that the time has come to retire Chic’s Ride. We had many incredible and successful years hosting this event. It brought hundreds of people together including riders, riding organizations, supporters, friends and family all for an amazing cause and all in Brian’s memory.  THANK YOU!

The people we met along this journey are incredible humans, giving nothing but their time and donations to continue the mission in Brian’s name and to raise funds for fallen Worcester County Riders and their families. Together we have raised motorcycle awareness, helped to change legislation, and donated to many families in need.

We plan to continue to maintain these funds in order to fulfill our mission of helping riders and their families. The Worcester County Motorcyclists’ Survivors Fund remains financially secure and steadfast in our conviction to lend aid to those in need.

Thank you for all the years of continued support for our cause. Please stay tuned for other fundraising events on our website www.wcmsfund.org.

Sincerely,
Deborah Ceccarini, Vice President, WCMSF
